If you missed our annual Spring Contest night on Thursday, let me be the first to send my sympathies
🙂 Wow, what a night!
Contest nights are always festive and fun, and this one was right up there.
The food (I am still feeling full!), the speeches, the Table Topics. Wow.
Thank you to everyone who was involved… with a special big ‘Thank you’ to Rachel Boles who was in charge of food — enough very tasty sandwiches to feed an army — AND she baked cookies! Did I say “Wow” yet? Sorry, my mouth was full.
And a big ‘Thank you’ to our Toastmaster, John Angelico, who carried it off without a hitch with his usual upbeat eloquence.
Now on with the show …
We had too many Table Topics contestants to name. A fantastic showing and a really fun contest with so many members involved answering the question about their commute in the Year 2030.
Mike Simpson took first place in the Table Topics contest.
Iman Novin won second place. Matthew Walsh was third.
Great answers everyone!
Mike will represent our club at the Area Table Topics contest on April 1.
Chris Pon, took first place in our club’s International Speech contest and will move up to the next level. Helen Chao took second place. (Steve Aitkins took third.) All gave very personal and memorable speeches. Way to go! .
Chris will represent our club at the Area E-5 International Speech contest to be held in our club’s usual meeting space at 211 Main Street on April 1. Congratulations Chris!
Our two runners up will each represent the club in their respective contests in the event that the first place winner is not able to be there, no April Fools.
Please wish Chris and Mike a hearty congratulations when you see them. And plan on attending the Area Speech Contests on April 1.
Thank you everyone for attending our big club event of the spring. I trust you had a very enjoyable evening and that you will invite at least one friend or co-worker to the area contest.
